Ebenso wie die EU ist auch die Zahl der BEUC-Mitglieder gewachsen und umfasst über 40 angesehene, unabhängige nationale Verbraucherorganisationen aus rund 30 europäischen Ländern (EU-, EWR- und Bewerberländer). In Brüssel agiert BEUC praktisch als “Botschafter” dieser Organisationen mit der Hauptaufgabe, seine Mitglieder dort zu vertreten und sich für die Interessen aller europäischen Verbraucher stark zu machen.

BEUC genießt sowohl bei Entscheidungsträgern als auch deren Gegenspielern ein gleichermaßen hohes Ansehen als vertrauenswürdiger Vertreter, vor allem dank der gebündelten Fachkompetenz und Erfahrung seiner Mitgliedsorganisationen. diese legene auch die Schwerpunkte und Zielsetzungen unserer halbjährlichen Hauptversammlungen fest. So kann BEUC direkt von deren Erfahrungen und alltäglichen Kontakten mit Verbrauchern an der Basis profitieren. Außerdem kann jeder, der mit BEUC zu tun hat, gewiss sein, dass die von BEUC vertretene Position von den repräsentativsten nationalen Verbraucherorganisationen unterstützt und befürwortet wird. BEUC verleiht diesen Organisationen eine gemeinsame Stimme.
